“CLOSE CALL” is an unofficial shipping-centric fanzine focused on the relationship of Solid Snake and Otacon from the METAL GEAR SOLID series throughout various settings, whether canon, canon-divergent, or alternate universes.The plan is to publish a digital and physical A5 book, featuring prose, comics, illustrations and merchandise. This is a small-scale project, so the number of spots will be limited, including guest artists and applications.This zine is for-profit. Proceeds will go to production and manufacturing first, and contributors will receive compensation for participation with the remaining funds.All information is compiled in the INFO DOCUMENT below.

Tentative R16 content rating. Non-graphic depictions of violence (ex. blood), suggestive content, and other mature themes (ex. alcohol, etc.) are allowed within reasonable limits and should be in-line with the source material. Erotic and/or explicit materials are not allowed in the main zine, but possibly in a separate booklet.
This is a SHIP-FOCUSED zine. Other characters may be depicted but should not be the focus of your piece.
Works do not have to be canon-complaint: AU works are allowed (ex, bakery AU, role swap AU, etc.).

Illustrations, (finished) doodles, sketch pages, comics, and written works.
Traditional illustrations are allowed but must be scanned in at a high resolution.
All work MUST be an original piece specifically made for this zine. Any previously made or posted pieces will not be accepted. Stolen, traced, and/or AI-generated work will not be allowed.

Contributors must be 18 or older at the time of application.
All communication will be on the zine's server. If you wish to not join the discord, contact will be with the head mod.
We are looking for approximately 25 contributors, including mods.
> meeting deadlines
CHECK-INS: There will be 1 mid-point check-in to make sure you’re on schedule and to see how you’re feeling about the piece(s) you’re making.
FINAL DEADLINE: This is a hard deadline. We will accommodate exceptional situations if they are communicated to us in a timely manner, but we will otherwise be very strict on this.
EXTENSIONS: will be allowed given sufficient notice. We will try to accommodate you to the best of our ability, but if you cannot meet deadlines or wish to drop out, please let a moderator know as soon as possible. Lack of communication will result in removal.
> compensation
Proceeds will go to production and manufacturing first. If we break even, contributors will automatically receive a complimentary copy of anything produced. Shipping will be covered if funds allow. All contributors are guaranteed a digital copy of the book and any digital merchandise free of charge.
> Usage rights
Contributors retain all rights to their own work. We only ask that you not post full final pieces before all project fulfillments have been completed. Posting final work, check-ins, and any other unpublished content from the project (either your own or another person’s) will result in removal from the project. Upon project completion, you are free to sell and distribute your work in any way you see fit.
